రవి చంద్రులపై అనుకోని మచ్చలు

మొట్టమొదటి సారిగా చందమామ కేసి దూరదర్శినిని గురిపెట్టిన గెలీలియోకి ఆ అనుభవంతో తన జీవితమే కాక, విజ్ఞానం కూడా ఓ మలుపు తిరగబోతోందని తెలీదు. నవంబర్ 1609 లో గెలీలియో తన చంద్ర పరిశీలనలు మొదలెట్టాడు. అందుకు తను నిర్మించిన X20 దూరదర్శినిని వాడుకున్నాడు. నవంబర్ 30 నుండి డిసెంబర్ 18 వరకు రోజు క్రమబద్ధంగా పరిశీలనలు చేసి ఆ వివరాలన్నీ ’సైడీరియస్ నున్సియస్ (Sidereus Nucius) అనే పుస్తకంలో పొందుపరిచాడు. చందమామ ఉపరితలం అంతా “పెద్ద పెద్ద కొండలతోను, లోతైన అగాధాలతోను, మెలికలు తిరిగే దారులతోను నిండి ఉండడం” చూసి నిర్ఘాంతపోయాడు. చందమామ మీద వెలుగు ఉన్న చోట (అక్కడి పగలు) ఎన్నో నల్లని మచ్చలు కనిపించాయి. అలాగే చీకట్లో ఎన్నో మెరిసే భాగాలు కనిపించాయి. అలాగే వెలుగు, చీకట్లని వేరు చేసే సరిహద్దు నునుపుగా లేదని, సూక్ష్మంగా చూస్తే ఆ రేఖ గజిబిజిగా ఉందని కూడా గమనించాడు.

గెలీలియో వస్తువుల చలనం గురించి ఎన్నో మౌలిక విషయాలని కనుక్కున్నా, తను సాధించిన అతి ముఖ్యమైన విప్లవం అతడి చేతికి ఓ దూరదర్శిని చిక్కడంతో మొదలయ్యింది.

దూరదర్శినిని కనిపెట్టింది గెలీలియోయే అనుకుంటారు చాలా మంది. కాని ఆ పరికరాన్ని కనిపెట్టింది హోలాండ్ కి చెందిన హన్స్ లిపర్షే అనే వ్యక్తి. కళ్లద్దాలు తయారు చేసే ఈ వ్యక్తి, అక్టోబర్ 1608 లో దూరదర్శినిని కనిపెట్టాడు. కటకాలని (lenses) వాడి దృశ్యాన్ని వృద్ధి చేసే ప్రక్రియ చాలా కాలంగా తెలిసినదే. భూతద్దాలని చదవడానికి వాడే పద్ధతి కూడా చాలా కాలంగా ఉంది.. కటకాలని ఒక చట్రంలో బిగించి కళ్లద్దాలని చేసే పద్ధతి కూడా పదిహేనవ శతాబ్దపు ఇటలీలో ఉండేది. దూరదృష్టికి ఎలాంటి కటకాలు వాడాలో, హ్రస్వదృష్టి (short sight) కి ఎలాంటి కటకాలు వాడాలో కూడా తెలిసేది.

చందమామ మీద రైళ్లూ, బస్సులూనా?

చందమామ మీద నీరు, ఆక్సిజన్
కాని ఇవన్నీ సాధ్యం కావాలంటే మనం ముఖ్యంగా సమకూర్చుకోవలసినది ఆక్సిజన్, నీరు. చంద్రుడి మీద వీటి కోసం ఎక్కడ వెతకాలో చెప్తాడు క్లార్క్.
చంద్రుడి మీద ఆక్సిజన్ శుద్ధ రూపంలో దొరక్క పోవచ్చు. కాని ఒక విషయం గుర్తుంచుకోవాలి. మన భూమిలో కూడా పైపొర (crust) లో బరువు బట్టి చూస్తే సగం భాగం ఆక్సిజనే (ఆక్సైడ్ల రూపంలో, ఉదాహరణకి సిలికాన్ డయాక్సయిడ్ – SiO2) ఉంటుంది. కనుక చందమామ మీద ఉండే మట్టి కూడా ఇందుకు పూర్తిగా ఉండే అవకాశం తక్కువ. కనుక అక్కడ మట్టిలో కూడా తగినంత ఆక్సిజన్ ఉంటుందని ఆశించవచ్చు. తగినంత శక్తి లభ్యమై ఉంటే, ఆ ఆక్సిజన్ ని వెలికితీయవచ్చని సైద్ధాంతికంగా నిశ్చయంగా చెప్పొచ్చు.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) invites application for admission to Master of Education (M.Ed.) – 2011 Programme.

10% DA hike to Central Govt. Employees from 1.7.2010

The Union Cabinet today decided to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 1.7.2010 representing an increase of 10% over the existing rate of 35% of the Basic Pay / Pension, to compensate for price rise.
With this,Our State Govt. Employees will get 8.56% D.A from 1.7.2010 ( 10 X 0.856%=8.56% ), and the total D.A from 1.7.2010 will become 24.824% ( 16.264% + 8.56% = 24.824% ).

PAY FIXATION OF DSC 95 UNDER 6(g)(i) (joined duties on or after 1.7.1995)

Teachers who are selected in the DSC 95 and joined duties on or after 1.7.1995
may have the opportunity to fix their pay under 6(g)(i). It has a little controversy,
but many teachers argue that they are eligible for fixation of pay under 6(g)(i). Teachers who are selected in DSC 95 and joined on or after 1.7.1995 have to submit two option forms along with two fixation statements(ie., Appendix-1). The first option should be given in the ordinary scale without increment ie., 5470-12385 and the second option should be given in the special grade scale ie.,5750-13030 without increment. Similary, the first Appendix-1(Fixation Statement) is to be prepared in the Ordinary Scale with basic Pay Rs.7970/- without increment. It comes out as Rs.14860/-. The Second Appendix-1 is to be prepared in the Special grade scale with basic Rs.8170/- which also states that the pay is fixed at Rs.14860/- in RPS 2010. As the both fixations are equal, the teacher may be entitled for one more increment under rule 6(g)(i) of A.P. Revised Pay rules 2010.
